Shelters from around the Bay Area are on rescue runs helping out the Peninsula Humane Society as it shelters animals left homeless by the San Bruno fire.
According to a release from the Peninsula Humane Society/SPCA, the agency has received calls from Bay Area animals shelters offering temporary sheltering for animals if needs exceeded PHS/SPCA’s resources.
Uusally what happens is adoption dogs in the affected shelter will be taken by other shelters so that residents’ dogs can be housed in the kennels.
There is no word yet, if Sonoma County shelters will be helping out, but it’s likely.
The Marin Humane Society is taking in a few dogs.
It’s also likely that the Peninsual Humane Society could handle some additional donations to help those animals left homeless by the blaze, which destroyed dozens of homes.
