The training for the Gran Fondo is going well, for others. A friend finished 72 miles Sunday. Me? I think I will go for a walk with my dogs.
Now I am running into a conundrum; how does one get enough time to cycle for the animals and exercise their own pets?
Have you seen people who ride their bikes with their dog on a leash next to them? There is a woman who ventures to Ragle Park in Sebastopol with her Border Collie. She rides on the bike path while her dog runs on the grass. She attaches the dog to the bike with a big spring. Round and round they go. As one who has worked with collies, short of sheep work, that seemed like a good solution.
For me, navigating such a combination would be like an accident waiting to happen. The dog will zig and I will zag and off to Palm Drive I go. Plus, I think it looks like it’s too much wear and tear for my non-Border Collies; two lab mixes and a Jack Russell Terrier mix.
So today it’s a walk, tomorrow it’s a ride and the next day?
